Lake Tahoe Wedding Checklist
Planning a perfect wedding takes a lot of careful thought and planning. Unless your wedding will be simple and limited to a small number of family and friends it is always smart to hire a wedding planner.
But for any size wedding it is necessary to have a complete plan and checklist to be sure everything is done just right and nothing is forgotten to spoil your special day. This is especially important with any destination wedding due to the extra logistics involved.
6 to 12 Months Before
- Decide on your wedding budget.
- What is your wedding "style"?
- Announce your engagement.
- Pick a wedding date.
- Choose your wedding location.
- Understand the marriage license requirements.
- Assemble the wedding guest list.
- Mail "Save the Date" cards.
- Follow up by phone to get a rough head count.
- If you want a traditional wedding dress start looking now.
- Look into the groom's attire.
- Consider what you want the wedding party to wear.
- Get any legal documents such as passports, divorce certificates, visas, identification, birth certificates.
- Start your long range "beauty shapeup" so you'll look ravishing on your day.
4 to 6 Months Before
- Pick your wedding coordinator.
- Work with the coordinator to pick the florist, musicians, photographer, minister or officiant.
- Pick your hairstylist, makeup artist and nail salon.
- Work out your reception menu.
- Decide on details of the wedding ceremony.
- Make sure you have signed contracts with everyone.
- Order your wedding invitations.
- Register for gifts.
- Buy your wedding rings and get them engraved.
- Buy tickets for transportation and negotiate for hotel and transportation discounts.
- Setup a wedding web site to share information with your guests.
- Finalize the groom's and wedding party's attire.
- Send out the invitations.
2 to 4 Months Before
- Choose or write your wedding vows.
- Shop for shoes and any other necessary accessories.
- Confirm that members of the wedding party and any other important guests have their travel arrangements and accommodations.
1 to 2 Months Before
- Order your wedding favors and gifts.
- Do the final dress fitting (then don't change your weight!)
- Shop for your honeymoon attire.
2 Weeks Before Your Lake Tahoe Wedding
- Reconfirm details with the hotel, caterer, florist, photographer, minister, musicians/DJ and others hired to help with the wedding.
- decide and arrange for guest seating as necessary.
- Put together the favors and welcome gifts.
Upon Arrival at Lake Tahoe
- Apply for your marriage license.
- Meet with your wedding coordinator to go over plans.
- Meet with the minister or officiant.
- Visit the ceremony site.
- Place welcome gifts in the guests' rooms.
- Double check the details then take the time to relax and enjoy the moment.
